Bark for Roofers in Australia: How Credits Work and What They Cost

How Bark.com works for Australian roofers in 2026: buying credits, what each pack costs, who else contacts the same customer, and how to judge whether it pays.

Shoaib RamzanFounder, LeadKites Updated 7 min read 5 sources checked

Bark is a pay-per-lead marketplace: you buy credits in advance and spend them to contact customers who've asked for a service, with up to five professionals able to contact each one. There's no monthly fee and no commission, so you only pay for the leads you choose. The trade-off is that you pay before you know whether the customer will reply, and you're often one of several roofers getting in touch.

This guide explains how Bark works for a roofing business as of October 2026, and how to work out what a job really costs you.

How does Bark work for a roofer?

A homeowner fills in a request on Bark, for example "roof leak repair in Parramatta". Bark matches it to professionals who've listed that service and area. You see the lead and its price in credits, and decide whether to pay to contact the customer.

The key rules from Bark's own terms (Bark.com terms):

  • You pay with credits. "To respond to a Bark, you will be required to redeem Credits." Credit prices are shown before purchase and can change.
  • Credits are paid in advance and, except under the guarantee described below, are non-refundable.
  • Credits expire. Credits bought on or after 1 November 2025 are valid for three months from purchase.
  • You're not alone. A general request is sent "to up to 5 unspecified Professionals", and the customer terms say "a maximum of five Professionals will contact you directly".

Bark's app description sums up the pitch: "We don't take commission, there are no monthly fees and everything you make is yours to keep" (Bark for Professionals, App Store).

How much do Bark credits cost in Australia?

The Australian App Store listing for Bark for Professionals shows these in-app credit packs as of October 2026:

Bark credit packs on the Australian App Store (October 2026)
Bark credit packs on the Australian App Store (October 2026)
20 credits$105.99
40 credits$204.99
80 credits$379.99

Prices may differ when you buy on Bark's website. Check the live price before you buy.

That works out to about $5.30 a credit on the smallest pack and about $4.75 on the largest. How many credits a lead costs isn't fixed. Bark's terms say the website states how many credits each contact costs, and it varies from lead to lead.

Example (made-up credit costs to show the maths, using the 40-credit pack at about $5.12 a credit):

What a Bark lead could cost you (example)

Small gutter repair

Credits to contact
6
Cost at about $5.12 a credit
about $31

Roof leak repair

Credits to contact
10
Cost at about $5.12 a credit
about $51

Full tile roof restoration

Credits to contact
18
Cost at about $5.12 a credit
about $92

Then remember: you pay that whether or not the customer replies, and up to four other professionals may contact them too.

What is Bark's Starter Pack guarantee?

Bark offers a "Get Hired Guarantee" on your first credit pack. Under clause 9.5 of its terms it applies to credits bought for general requests only, and all of these must be true:

Your ticks are saved in this browser only.

If you qualify, Bark adds the same number of credits back to your account. It's a credit return, not a cash refund, and you get only one (Bark.com terms).

Who Bark suits, and who it doesn't

It can suit:

  • Roofers who want to test a lead source without a monthly commitment
  • Businesses that can contact customers within minutes, because up to five pros may be calling
  • Roofers who pick leads carefully and track every result

It's less of a fit for:

  • Roofers who can't reply until the end of the day
  • Businesses that want the customer relationship to start with them alone
  • Anyone who buys a pack and doesn't use it within three months

How to get more from Bark leads

Speed is the whole game when five businesses can contact the same person. Call first, then send a short text if they don't answer, and follow up again the next day. If you're on the roof when a lead comes in, it's often gone by the time you're down. Work out what that's costing you:

Estimated value left on the table

$8,119

a month, or about $97,425 a year. This is an estimate from your own numbers, not a promise. Even if it's half right, one saved job a month pays for LeadKites many times over.

Questions to ask yourself before buying more credits

Before you top up, look back at the last pack and answer honestly:

  • How many leads did I pay to contact? And how many of those customers replied at all?
  • How fast did I make contact? If it was hours rather than minutes, the speed problem may be costing more than the leads.
  • What kind of jobs were they? If most were small repairs and you want restorations, a marketplace may not be the right source for the work you want.
  • What did each job won really cost? Add up the credits used and divide by the jobs won. Compare that with your average job value and margin.
  • Did any old quotes go quiet? A customer who asked for a quote and didn't decide is often worth a follow-up message before you spend more on new leads.

If the numbers don't stack up after a fair test, put the money into leads you own: your Google Business Profile, your website and the houses around jobs you've finished.

Where LeadKites fits

LeadKites isn't a marketplace and we don't sell leads or credits. We reply to your enquiries within 60 seconds, from Bark, hipages, Google or your own site, book inspections and follow up quotes. We sell that service, so we have a stake here. If you're paying for leads and not winning enough of them, a free lead audit will show where they're slipping.
